How to replace your lost title in New Jersey
If you lost your title or it was stolen or damaged you can apply for a new one in New Jersey. You cannot buy or sell a vehicle without a title.
Have the following when applying:

- You must turn in a copy of yor registration and proof of insurance.
- Owners' name.
- Model, year and VIN information.
- A letter showing that the title is not in his/her possession and that the vehicle was paid for in full.
- If you damaged your title you must return the original title in the application.
If you have a lien holder you must include a statement from the current/old lien holder with the following points:

- There will be a $25 duplicate title fee for a lost or stolen license and a $20 duplicate title fee for a damaged title.
