How to replace your lost title in Deleware


If you lost your original title or it was damaged or stolen you can apply to replace it in Delaware. You must have a title if you are looking to purchase or sell a vehicle.

What you need:

  • Click here to complete the form making sure to write on the form that you are applying for a replacement title in Deleware and signed by all owner's. Include the tag number with its expiration date and an odometer disclosure.
  • You must include the driver's license number for all owner's. In the absence of a lien holder, owner/s also needs to include a copy of some ID with signature proof when applying for the duplicate on mail. If there is a lien the lienholder must complete a section at the bottom of the MV213.
  • If some one holds a Power of Attorney, the original notarized # must be attached along with the MV213. The authorized person can then sign the application twice, once by himself and once on behalf of the owner.
    If some one is authorized by the owner to process the duplicate title, he will have to sign his name and provide his driver's license number in the space indicated.
  • Include a self-addressed return envelope for mailed applications.
  • If your original title is damaged or mutilated, you must return the original title when applying for a replacement.

Fees:

  • Send in your application form and the fee of $25. In the presence of a lien, the fee for a corrected title is $35.
