How to replace your title in Colorado


If you lost your original title in Colorado or it was damaged or stolen you can get a duplicate just by applying.

Things you will need when applying for a new title:

  • Click here to fill out and complete the duplicate form. Make sure to sign the form and the only person who can sign it is the owner, lienholder or authorized agent by power of attorney.
  • After you fill out the form have it notarized.
  • If your title was damaged make sure to attach your original to the application.
  • If you have a lienholder on your title you make sure to get a notarized lien release noting the make, model and VIN of the vehicle, the owner's name, date of lien release and signature.
  • If you are not the owner or lienholder, but an authorized agent. A Supplemental Secure and Verifiable Identification Information and Attestation Clause form must also be submitted.
  • Provide proper identification. For vehicles titled on 1 July 2006 or later, a Secure and Verifiable ID form should also be submitted.

  • There will be a $8.20 duplicate title fee in Colorado.
