New Title and Title Transfers in Nebraska

How to get a new title in Nebraska

Getting a title is a document that proves you legally own your vehicle in Nebraska. When you purchase a new vehicle you must get a title. If you are giving away or selling a used car you must do a title transfer.

In most cases the dealership where you purchased your vehicle from will help you with the title process. Click here to handle the process on your own.

When doing a title transfer make sure to get the following documents and submit them with the appropriate fees to your local county clerk's office:

  • Get the title signed over to you and notarized. The title must include the federal odometer disclosure if the vehicle is less than ten years old.
  • If there is no date of sale and selling price on the title you will need a completed bill of sale signed by both current and new owner and get it notarized.
  • Click here for a completed application form.
  • Click here for an odometer disclosure statement if the title does not include this information and the vehicle is less than ten years old.
  • Get a bonded certificate of title if you are told you need it.
  • Get the original or copy of the vehicle's financing statement or security agreement.

Fees:

  • There will be a fee of $10.
